The Roseville Quilters Guild meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, from 9-11:30am in the Garden building at the Placer County Fairgrounds. Monthly meetings include speakers or activities. Classes featuring the speaker or a member are held on the Thursday following the meeting.

Additional workshops are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, from 9am to noon at the Maidu Community Center. A variety of things are done at these workshops, including quilt basting or working on community service quilts.

The membership year is from July 1 - June 30. Annual dues for regular members are $24. Dues for Corresponding members are $18. (Corresponding members are those who can't come to meetings or participate fully in Guild activities; they get the monthly newsletter and the membership roster, and if they come to a meeting pay $3.)

The Guild has a number of committees responsible for organizing and activities for Guild members. These include:

Basting: members gather to baste each others' quilts. This sevice is free to members. This is usually done at the 2nd Wednesday workshop.

Block of the Month: the Guild provides a kit for a quilt block for members to learn about techniques, designs, and/or colors. Members can purchase the kit for a nominal cost; names of those who return completed blocks are entered into a drawing to win enough blocks to make a quilt.

Americana Cabin block - members are asked to make an extra block to be donated to Operation Care and Comfort. The block pattern is here. This is the star pattern. The star is approximately 4 3/4" from tip to tip, in case the pattern is not to scale.

Block of the Month challenge for 2007: Each month make TWO blocks, one for the drawing and one for yourself, made from your own fabric choice.  At the end of the year you will have 12 blocks you can make into a quilt.  The challenge is to bring a finished TOP (no need to be a completed quilt) to the July meeting.  Your name will go into a hat and a drawing will be held for the $25.

Boutique: in addition to the raffle quilt, the Guild's primary fundraisers are it's boutiques in June and December. Members are expected to make and donate items to sell at these craft fairs.

Challenge: members participating in the Challenge quilt are given "rules" for each year's challenge. They are due at the June meeting and exhibited at the July quilt show.

Community Cupboard: Each month we ask members to bring specific types of food, which is taken to the food bank in Roseville after each meeting. This is the list with suggestions for 2008-09:

Community Service: members make and donate quilts to individuals or community organizations, and support other charitable endeavors. For more information, see our Community Service page.

Fat Quarter Exchange: members bring a fat quarter with a specific theme to a meeting and have a chance of winning a whole collection. You receive one ticket for each fat quarter you bring. If you have more than one fat quarter of the same fabric, you may leave it in one piece and receive multiple tickets.

The themes for the fabric exchange for 2008-09 are based on "A Song for Inspiration:"

Library: provides an extensive collection of books an videos for members to check out at monthly meetings. Click here to see what the library currently contains.

Newsletter: publishes and distributes a monthly newsletter that provides information about all aspects of the Guild's activities. The newsletter deadline is the 25th of each month for the following month. Members can opt to receive the newsletter by email rather than regular mail by contacting the newsletter editor, Colleen Voet.

Pick-a-Prize: provides fun by giving participants a chance to win prizes of interest to quilters.

Programs: each meeting has a program, either a quilt-related speaker or activity.

Quilt Show: the Guild presents a quilt show as part of the Placer County Fair. This is an opportunity to display members' achievements in quilting and to educate viewers about quilts and quilting. Our Quilt Show page has more information about the show.

Here are pictures of almost all the quilts from the 2007 quilt show.

Raffle Quilt Production: members create a quilt to be raffled to raise funds to help support the ongoing activities of the Guild. Here is a picture of our 2008 Opportunity Quilt.

Special Events: the Guild offers special events such as Quilt Camp and bus trips to quilt shows or events.

Sunshine: relays information about a member who needs cheering up, sends cards, helps organize assistance for members in need.

Workshops: fun classes taught by a speaker or member on a specific quilt or technique. Workshops by speakers are generally taught the day after the general meeting; workshops (including quilt basting) are also held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
