A primary goal and activity of the Roseville Quilters Guild is Community Service.
The Guild collects canned and boxed food for St Vincent de Paul's in Roseville.
We are adopting two families at Christmas and providing gifts and quilts for each family member.
But our main emphasis, obviously, is on quilts. Our community service chairpersons are creative in managing donated fabric, making kits, coordinating quilting, and finding appropriate places for donations. In cooperation with the First Methodist church (on Chruch Street in Roseville), they sponsor community service workshop days. The next one will be on Friday, November 4 from 9 am - 4 pm. All are invited to participate.
Last year we donated a record 187 quilts to various community organizations. These organizations include HomeStart; the Placer County Receiving Home; Multi Disciplinary Interviewing Center (MDIC), where all children in Placer County are interviewed if there is suspected abuse; Roseville Family Resources, where quilts are given to be distributed to mothers of young families through Home First, an organization of care and support; and the Roseville division of the Sacramento Life Center. In addition, we provided quilts to Mercy San Juan Hospital (through one of our members) and to some organizations in east Africa.
